Is this synchronisation between systems?

No — synchronisation assumes two copies and a queue between them. Here there is one base and several readings of it, which is what removes the window for divergence.

What if I want to freeze a version?

Versions exist and are explicit: approved budget, scenario, published close. What does not exist is the accidental copy.

Does this hold for the spreadsheet too?
